My Weightloss

My Weightloss

How I started my effort to loose 120 Pounds overweight Permanently

This is my short story on how I lost 120 pounds. I was hitting 30 when I realised one day, while looking in the miror after a shower, that I could not look down and see if I was a boy or a girl anymore because of the enormous layer of fat that surrounded my abdomen.

I remember thinking that still felt fit and strong and that I could run up two or three flights of stairs as easily as ever before, so I smiled at myself and brushed the incongruous thought aside. I was in love with food and I wasn’t about to give up my fondness for eating, it was just too enjoyable.

It was not that I lacked exercise. As a door to door salesman, I used to climb numerous flights of stairs on my way to a prospective customer every single day. If I added up the distance I climbed in this fashion, I would come to an incredible result. I considered it my sport and told myself it would keep me from suffering the consequences of my obesity.

That was, until that fateful day on a Christmas eve a few months later. I still had papers to deliver to a customer and I had promised to get these to him before years’ end. It was freezing deep below zero and the lanscape was staggeringly beautiful. I parked the car less than half a block away and dashed for the entry of the lobby. I rang the bell and waited for the familiar buzzing at the hallway door, which came quickly.

I knew this customer lived on the third and last floor, so I braced myself for my usual sprint up the stairs. Three times sixteen stairs right up to the top floor went by as usual, only this time, instead of giving my customer my big smile, something different happened. A red transparent curtain suddenly came down before eyes, I blacked out and fell heavily on the floor.

The next thing I remember is two very worried looking people bowing over me, one of which was holding a glass of water. I remember the man asking me: “Are you allright?”, while I sat up and pulled myself together. I felt my heart racing in my chest and I was gasping for breath, something I never did before.

“I think so”, I replied, while gratefully taking the glass of water and drinking from it. I found the strength to smile at the two people standing over me. “You passed out”, said the man, “and you had us very worried there for a moment. I was about to call an ambulance”.

I stood up and reassured my customer that I felt fine and took my suitcase to take out the papers I had promised him and handed them over. I really did feel a lot better by then, it was as if nothing had happened. But I wasn’t quite sure what had overcome me and that got me thinking seriously that maybe this had been a warning.

By the time I got back to my car, I was really wondering what had happened. To this day, I still do not know. But it helped me to make up my mind about changing my ways. This incident also pushed me to gather the resolve to get started on a program of some sorts. I had no idea how or where to start. It was the beginning of my weight loss episode and it lasted for two and a half years. During this time, I brought my weight down by some 120 pounds.

This happened some twenty years ago, the Internet did not even exist yet since then, I have managed to keep my weight under control. If you want to know what exactly I did, how and why, I suggest you go for my 3 Part Dieting eCourse.
